Types of billiards The term Billiards includes all cue games like snooker, pool, carom billiards and so on. In carom billiards, a player scores points by striking (or caroming) his own cue ball off both the object ball and the opponent’s cue ball in one shot. In this version of the game the table has no pockets. English billiards is played on a long rectangular table with six pockets. The game is for two players or two teams and has two cue balls ond one object ball. Snooker is also played on a six pocket table. It is played with one white cue ball and several other object balls. It has 15 red balls and six other different color balls namely yellow (2), green (3), brown (4), blue (5), pink (6) and black (7). Games are awarded on maximum points won by pocketing the red and the colored balls with the cue ball. The team or player who wins more games wins the match. All those games that are played on a table with six pockets are called pocket billiards or pool. How to play well You must be in a comfortable position while playing. When you are hitting the ball or aiming the cue your body must be stable and comfortable or will miss it. Place your feet apart such that your feet and your shoulders have the same width. Then bring your leaning foot a step forward. Your chest should be parallel to the floor. Place the cue between the thumb and the knuckles of your index finger of your leaning arm and look straight over the cue. With your other hand calling the calling arm hold the cur six inches from the end at your waist level. Place your cue tip four inches from the white ball and hit the ball in the centre. When you strike the white ball only your calling arm should move all other parts of your body should stay still.
